What is International Holocaust Remembrance Day? 

On November 1, 2005, the UN General Assembly designated January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day (IHRD) in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The date marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945.
